Chapter 02  ·  The Platform

Designed for artists. Built for global listeners.

One curated catalogue. One subscription. Every artist paid transparently, on a fixed monthly cycle. No advertising. No open upload flood. No algorithmic filter deciding what you get to hear.

Our position

We're not trying to be the biggest music platform. We're building the right one, for a specific audience and a specific set of artists, at a moment when both are actively looking for exactly this.

The founding principle

01

Principle 01  ·  Curation

Every artist is chosen.

Hand-picked African and international artists, selected for quality and originality. Not an algorithm. An editorial point of view, built by people who care about the music and understand why it matters.

What this means in practice. There is no open upload flood. Discovery is editorial: playlists, features, and long-form context, put together by people who actually listen to the catalogue they're curating.

If a human didn't listen to it and decide it belongs here, it isn't on the platform.

02

Principle 02  ·  Fair pay

A revenue share, paid monthly.

Every artist on the platform signs a revenue share agreement. Transparent, contractual, and paid on a fixed monthly cycle. No opaque per-stream rates. No withheld earnings.

What this means in practice. Revenue share is calculated against clearly defined terms in MSE-LEGAL-003, itemised in reports the artist can read, and reconciled the way you'd expect a business relationship to be reconciled. Not a black box with a lump-sum credit.

The artist knows what they earned, how it was calculated, and when it lands.

03

Principle 03  ·  Global from day one

Subscriptions everywhere. Data handled properly.

Subscriptions are available internationally at launch. Multi-currency billing is built into Stripe. GDPR-compliant data practices apply to every subscriber regardless of the territory they subscribe from.

What this means in practice. A subscriber in Lagos, London, or Amsterdam gets the same catalogue, the same experience, and the same data protection. Artists get to reach listeners without a regional gate or a genre silo in the way.

One catalogue. Any currency. GDPR standard regardless of geography.

04

Principle 04  ·  Licensed and compliant

Rights, respected. Frameworks, followed.

Proper music licensing from launch, not as a retrofit. We work within the rights frameworks required in every territory, across publishing and master rights, with the applicable collecting societies.

What this means in practice. Applicable bodies include PRS for Music, MCPS, MCSN (Nigeria), and IMRO. Compliance is confirmed at Step 12 of our launch schedule before any copyrighted third-party content goes live.

The platform is legally built to hold the catalogue it distributes. That is the baseline.

How subscription revenue moves

Subscribers pay. Artists get paid. The math is visible.

No advertising means no freemium tension between artist revenue and advertiser demand. Every listener is a paying subscriber, and every subscription payment flows into a defined pool from which artist shares are calculated. Exact terms are set out in MSE-LEGAL-003 and shared with every artist before signing.

Licensing & compliance

Where we sit in the global music rights landscape and who oversees us.

Every music platform operates inside a complex rights ecosystem. We do this properly from launch, not as a retrofit added under pressure.

A different model

Where we consciously diverge from how the largest platforms operate today.

A different model, built for a different purpose.

The biggest African music platforms today are built for scale and ad revenue. Masters Global Inc is built for something else: a curated, subscription-only home where artists are chosen, not just uploaded, and paid a transparent, contractual share of every subscription.

Most major platforms

Open upload, algorithmic discovery, ad-supported free tiers with opaque per-stream payouts.

Global catalogue with African music positioned as one genre among many.

Analytics-first decisions on what to promote and to whom.

Masters Global Inc

Curated by people, not algorithms.Subscription-only, with a contractual revenue share paid monthly to every artist on the platform.

African and international artists are the entire catalogue, not a section of it. Editorial curation built for this audience.

Editorial-first decisions.Human judgement, transparency, and long-term artist relationships.
